S.A.Y. Vocational Program

North Carolina Department of Public Safety/Juvenile Crime Prevention Council.
S.A.Y. VOCATIONAL PROGRAM
The S. A. Y. Vocational Program serves Wilson County Youth ages 14-17 who are at-risk academically, behaviorally, at-risk of gang involvement or court-involved . Referrals are made by school counselors, court counselors, parents and other service agencies.
The program is provided at no cost for eligible participants.
The program operates on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm for 44 weeks. Forty weeks are devoted to hands-on skills training and 4 weeks focus on community service projects and field trips to enhance both vocational and social skills.
Snack is provided for the youth participants. Transportation will be made available as needed.
The program culminates with a graduation ceremony that brings together the youth, their families and the community.

We Will Succeed!
We offer two technology classes that will help skill building in advance computer software in MS Word, MS Excel, programming and much more.
This class also offers computer app building for android phones and tablets.
Culinary Arts Class
Our culinary arts class are provided by experienced chiefs. Skills will include sanitation, purchasing, inventory control, food temperatures and safety, cooking, serving, catering and kitchen management.
in our sewing class, student will develop and learn how to do measurements, alterations, hemming, proper use of needle and thread and the use of a sewing machine. At the end of the class they will be able to make an out-fit.
